  • Meet: Tram's Valley Station
  • Departure 9:00 a.m. Tram
  • Duration: About four hours
  • Distance: 5-mile hike with 800-foot elevation gain
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Top of Mountain: Meet 10:00 a.m. at the benches outside Mt. San Jacinto Ranger Station 

The Hike and Nature Interpretation will be led by Art Mattox, who has been a Mt. San Jacinto State Park Volunteer since 2008. This is your opportunity to learn more about the natural features, floral and fauna in one of the most diverse ecosystems in North America.

Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), lunch/snacks, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required. 

Temperatures at the tram’s  8500' elevation Mountain Station can be 30 degrees cooler, you can check Tram Weather

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must pay for your own tram ride. The fee is $25.95, or $2 less over age 65, and you can buy ticket online in advance. The new $5 parking fee is waived if you show ID as a local area resident or annual pass holder.

Meet at benches outside the Mt. San Jacinto State Park Ranger Station.
