      6:30 - 7:45 pm Core Group Meeting
      7:45 - 8:00 pm Social Period
8:00 - 9:00 pm Program: Climate Reality Project

Brent Sammons of the San Diego GO chapter will provide us with a candid look at the status of climate change, what's already being done about it, and lead us in a discussion of what each of us can do to help. Brent recently completed the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training with Al Gore.

As members of the Great Outdoors, we enjoy coming together in beautiful, natural places. As we all know, those places have already started to change due to global climate change. While it can be a difficult subject to talk about, we're most empowered when we're informed. Taking a candid look at how our natural environment is changing and what's causing those changes can help point us to solutions.

        Big Horn Institute:

        Speaker Aimee Boyd

Big Horn Institute was founded in 1982, and is a privately funded, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the world’s wild sheep through research and education.  It focuses on the endangered Peninsular bighorn in southern California and has long been recognized as an official recovery facility for the species. Over the past 35 years, its captive breeding and wild population augmentation program has resulted in the release of 127 bighorn into the wild. More critically, these efforts have kept two local herds from disappearing altogether. The Institute also monitors wild bighorn populations along the southern rim of the Coachella Valley from Palm Springs to La Quinta.

All members and non-members are welcome to attend all meetings. Members get an advance opportunity to register for this meeting and to listen to our guest speaker.
